Requirements and Procedures
The Museum of the Americas may provide access to its museographic and documentary collections to researchers or students in postgraduate studies who submit a request, upon accreditation of their status by one of the following means:
• Researchers and students in postgraduate education working at an academic or scientific institution
In exceptional cases, access to museum collections may be granted to undergraduate students, provided that the request is sufficiently justified. The procedure stipulated for postgraduate students will be followed.
• Independent researchers
Submit your application via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, including a duly completed, signed and scanned copy of the following application form, as well as a scan of the supporting document.
Once the request has been received, the Museum of the Americas will designate a representative who will contact the researcher to schedule their visit(s). In order to ensure that the application can be properly handled, we recommend that you submit your request at least one month before the planned date of the visit. The Museum of the Americas reserves the right to modify the dates and times authorised for visits according to the needs of the programme or its human resources.
Access to the collections
When visiting the museum to consult the collections, the researcher must present one of the following valid forms of identification: DNI/NIE, passport or driving licence. The original document must be presented.
Access to the Museum’s works shall be carried out without disrupting the normal visits by the public and respecting the appropriate conservation conditions of cultural property, and will be contingent upon firm and strict compliance with the following rules for consultation.
Use of images
At the request of the researcher, the museum may authorise the taking of images of museum and documentary collections. In this case, when the Museum deems it appropriate, the researcher must commit to providing a digital copy of these images and to cede the rights of reproduction, distribution, public communication and transformation of these images to the Museum of the Americas, on a non-exclusive basis.
This arrangement will be formalised during the visit by the researcher signing the commitment document below.
The museum, for its part, will respect the researcher's right to recognition of their authorship, identifying in all cases, unless expressly stated otherwise, the author of the works.
