The extension

In 2019, the Ministry of Culture and Sport acquired the building next to the House of Cervantes Museum to expand the museum, providing it with new exhibition spaces and equipment that will improve accessibility and visitor services. This acquisition will double the museum's current space and meet its institutional needs.

The building has a large auditorium that can hold 220 people, two temporary exhibition halls, a training room, a reception hall and public toilets, as well as other spaces for internal use (reserve and administrative areas).

The new building dates from the mid-20th century and is made of modern materials. However, its façade imitates the look of the façade of the House of Cervantes Museum, at the request of the City Council, which aims to respect the historical character of the museum building and its surroundings.
