The Museum of a Fading Spain Comes into Being

At the start of the 20th century, urban progress, represented by the railroad triggered fears that rural ways of life were disappearing. In this context, the Regional and Traditional Costume Exhibition in 1925 set out to document the Spain that would fade in the face of advancing modernity. The “popular” costumes were exhibited together with various objects to portray the different regional ways of life documented in our country.
