Vestir el pie

Two types of footwear were used: closed shoes and slippers, whitout heels. Made in rich materials and with leather soles, they evolved from the curved high heels of the rococo period to the flat, low-cut neo-classical shoe. They had a narrow toe and were closed over the instep with means a tongue held in place by a buckle or sewn ribbons. A single last was used for both left and right shoes. Stockings, woven on a flat frame, and with seams down the back, were made in bright-coloured silks to tone with clothing, and were decorated with embroidery and a framed triangle at the ankle.
