Ca. 1600

Long piece that is so narrow that it’s impossible to see the complete pattern. Large, vegetal elements appear with very little movement. The brocatelle has two silk warps in yellow and red, and two wefts in linen and silk, with a satin and serge weave. There are traces of selvedge on one of the sides, in linen with three vertical lines in natural colours, brown and ecru.

The materials used together with the large-scale decorative motifs would position this fragment at the start of the 17th century. It could have been a fabric used for upholstery.
