Ownership and management

The Sorolla Museum is a state-owned museum managed directly by the Ministry of Culture.

It is governed by Law 16/1985, of 25 June, on Spanish Historical Heritage, and the Regulation on State-owned Museums and the Spanish Museum System (RD 620/1987, of 10 de April).

The Sorolla Museum has a very simple internal structure, in compliance with the provisions of the Regulation governing State-owned Museums. The division of roles has also been performed in accordance with the stipulations of the aforementioned Regulation although, given the extraordinary development that museums have generally experienced in recent years, the roles have been enriched and diversified.
