Día Internacional de Conmemoración de las Víctimas del Holocausto

International Holocaust Remembrance Day – January 27th

Every January 27th, the Museo Sefardí joins International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a date that seeks not only to pay homage to the millions of people who died in the Nazi concentration camps , but also to take measures to help younger people develop resilience against ideologies of hate. The UN decided to declare this day because it was on January 27th 1945 when Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, whose 75th anniversary was marked in 2020. The Museo Sefardí shares collective responsibility for addressing the traumas that are still alive, to commemorate the events, to take care of the historical places to preserve the memory, and to promote education, documentation, and research.

Día Internacional de la Mujer

International Women’s Day – March 8th

This day was declared by the UN in 1975 to commemorate women’s struggle to achieve equality. It is a day for fighting for equality, participation, and empowerment of women in all areas of society. At the Museo Sefardí, an institution within the world of culture – that great pillar which helps society to advance, evolve, and grow free from all inequalities – we fight every day to achieve this equality, but we all fight, both men and women.
