One of the main functions of the Documentation Department is maintaining the entry records, inventory, description and cataloguing of the pieces that form part of the Museum's collections. It must therefore assign a number to each of the assets in question, whether owned or on loan, and is responsible for the upkeep and updating of the Institution's register and systematic catalogue. It also manages temporary holdings, as well as the dispatch of objects, mainly for temporary exhibitions.
Attached to the Department is the photography service, which is responsible for the graphic documentation of both the assets held by the Museum and the activities organised by it, as well as the administrative and photographic archives of the centre and the Museum Library. If you wish to consult these collections, please contact this service.
In relation to the management of digital information, both relating to the artefacts and to the Museum's documentation, this Department is responsible for the coordination of the corresponding tools. This primarily means Domus but also, and more specifically in the case of the library, Bimus.
