The museum's library collection specialises in Roman and Visigothic archaeology, with special attention to materials published about Mérida's archaeological sites. It comprises more than 28,000 copies of monographs, pamphlets, offprints, maps and other minor publications, as well as around 311 journal titles from the inter-library loan programme the Museum maintains with more than one hundred institutions, both in Spain and abroad.
The library also has a Rare Books collection of 256 items dating from the mid-17th century to the beginning of the 20th century, which serves both as a source of information that complements the institution's field of study and as a testimony to the historical legacy of Mérida-related publications.

The MNAR Library accepts donations, following the practices and recommendations set by national and international organisations, such as IFLA and institutions similar to our museum.
Donations must be related to the subject matter of the Library's holdings. Before donating a publication, it is advisable to check in the online catalogue to ensure that the Library does not already have a copy of the work.
To offer a donation, you must first fill out this form, attaching it to an email addressed to biblioteca.mnar@cultura.gob.es (subject: Proposal for donation of publication) or handing it in at the Library desk.
The Library will respond to donation proposals within 30 days. It reserves the right to accept or decline any donation.
If the proposal is accepted, the donation will be sent in by post or handed over at the Library's information desk, together with the accepted donation proposal form. The donated publication shall become the property of the Library, which shall have the right to dispose of it as it sees fit.
If the Library receives an item by post whose donation has not previously been accepted via this procedure, it will dispose of the item as it sees fit.
