Some of the museum’s rooms are available for hiring for events of a cultural nature only, depending on availability and the museum’s own programme of activities.

Rooms

Auditorium / conference room

Location: Third floor

Size: 51.61 m². Annex (BJ15) 119.62 m²

Capacity: Audiovisual room: Seats: 50. Annex (BJ15): approx 90 people.

Equipment: Special lighting, a portable PA system, audiovisual projection, slide projector and data projector. Furnishings: conference table chairs, etc. Museum resources: stands…

Possible room uses: Performances, conferences, seminars and forums, presentations, meetings, showings, temporary exhibitions, workshops.

Days and times available: To be arranged.

Covered courtyard

Location: First floor

Size: 80 m²

Capacity: Seats: 50 people. Standing space: approx 80 people

Equipment: Furniture available: tables, chairs, etc. Portable PA system.

Possible room uses: Performances, receptions, cocktail and catering parties, press conferences, workshops.

Days and times available: To be arranged.

Fountain courtyard

Location: Ground floor.

Size: 102 m²

Capacity: Seats: 50 people. Standing space: approx 90 people.

Equipment: Furniture available: tables, chairs, etc. A portable PA system.

Possible room uses: Receptions, cocktail parties, catering services, presentations, press conferences, workshops.

Days and times available: To be arranged.

Ballroom

Location: First floor

Size: 111 m²

Seating capacity: Seats 90 people.

Equipment: Availability of chairs for the public and a portable PA system.

Possible uses of space: Performances: music concerts, receptions and other functions, filming and photo shoots.

Days and times available: Exclusively outside of the museum’s opening hours.

Temporary exhibition rooms

Location: Room I: Ground floor. Room II: Mezzanine.

Size: Temporary room I: Ia 59.73 m²; Ib 28.65 m²; Ic 59.00 m²; Temporary rooms I overall: 147.38 m²; Temporary rooms II: IIa 16.19 m²; IIb 63.41 m²; IIc 42.80 m²; Temporary rooms II overall: 122.40 m²; Temporary rooms overall: 269.48 m².

Seating capacity: Temporary room I, standing space: 100 maximum; Temporary room II: standing space 90 maximum.

Equipment: Temperature and humidity control, special lighting, security: guards and security cameras, fixed projection equipment with computer connection in room IIc, audiovisual projection, portable PA system, background music, availability of museum display equipment (Bases, display cabinets etc).

Possible uses of space: Filming and photo shoots, workshops, temporary exhibitions.

Days and times available: To be arranged.

Venue hire

To hire a room in the museum, organizations should send a request to the (director/manager), Sr.Jaume Coll, with at least a months notice, with the following information:

• Name of the business
• Room required
• Event date
• Event type
• Duration
• Number of people attending
• Technical requirements or resources needed

General conditions for the leasing of spaces

If a room is available for a cultural event and the request is accepted by the museum management, they will contact the business about the cost of hiring the room, based on the current published rates agreed by legislation.

Regulations

The Ministerio de Cultura (Ministry of Culture) has set rates for the hiring of rooms in museums and other institutions under its management. The cost of hire is dependent on surface area and the length of time requested. There are additional charges for filming, the need for extra security, private visit of the museum etc.

Orden de 18 de enero de 2000 por las que se establecen las tarifas de los servicios o actividades sujetos a la tasa por utilización de espacios en museos y otras instituciones culturales del Ministerio de Educación y Cultura. (Order of 18th January 2000 establishing rates for the services or activities subjected to rates for the use of spaces in the museums and other cultural institutions from the minister of culture and education.)
