This type of amphora is named after its place of production, Brindisi, in southern Italy, where potteries produced many variants of the type. This particular amphora has a globular body, short neck, a lip circular in section which morphs directly into the handles, and a short, solid foot.Salto de línea They can be dated between the late 2nd century and late 1st century BCE. They were widely distributed in the western Mediterranean and even more so in the East, but they were not the most common type on our shores. They were probably used to transport oil, although they may also have been used for wine.Salto de línea
