Rectangular block of coins measuring 50 x 24 x 23 cm and weighing 58.87 kg. Remains of wood still adhere to some pieces, which would confirm the presence on the frigate Nuestra Señora de la Mercedes of containers such as coffers, judging by the rounded top. These coffers were used to transport cash in sacks, as shown in documents such as the ship's log of Diego de Alvear (1891), which describes bags inside boxes located in the "sollado de las arras" ("deck of coins") and their arrangement in rows of three in the interior: “(...) he said it was missing a bag and a half of pesos fuertes when it should contain three.”
