We live in a world of images. With the development of the Internet and social media, millions of images fly as electromagnetic waves from one part of the globe to another every second. Images are a powerful vehicle for information and therefore for the dissemination of all kinds of realities and identities. They are also a powerful tool for a museum and its collections. At the MNA, our purpose is to promote the dissemination of these images and therefore to meet the expectations of all those who request images of the objects that we hold. We try to reduce waiting times as by providing the quickest, most immediate service possible. If this does not seem to be the case, please let us know; we also welcome any suggestions you may have.
You can obtain images of objects in the museum's collections through the portal CER.ES (Digital Network of Spanish Museum Collections), where numerous objects have been digitised for all users to enjoy. These images are freely accessible and you can download them for private use, subject to certain conditions
.Salto de línea
You can send an image release request to the Museum if you cannot find an image of the object in question on CERES.ES, you need higher-quality images or you plan to use the images in a publication, among other reasons. To do so, we invite you to contact our Image Release Service at the following address: documentacion.mna@cultura.gob.es
. If we already have the images you request, we will send them to you in the manner you request, after the completion of the necessary procedures and payment of fees established by law. However, if the images do not yet exist, it may take a little longer to get back to you; we will either have to call a photographer to take new images of the objects or documents you request or invite you to the museum to do your own photography/filming, scheduling this well in advance.
In all cases, please keep in mind that we must expressly authorise any image reproductions for each specific use, as their unlicensed use may infringe intellectual property rights. The preparation of Spanish legislation on the subject, and also its enforcement, falls under the purview of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, to which the MNA is attached. We therefore strictly apply existing legislation regarding the ownership and use of images, as well as of the objects that appear in them.
