Exhibition tours

The exhibition The times of Altamira is a unique space that allows educators to apply different strategies for teaching and learning with cultural heritage. Those who wish can personally guide their groups on their tour of the Neocueva and the exhibition The times of Altamira.

The organisation of the school groups to tour the museum exhibition, including the Neocueva, will take into account health regulations and the capacity of each space in the museum. The Education Department and Group Bookings will help you to plan your visit.

Educational trails

The trails offer a set of didactic materials prepared by the museum's Education Department in partnership with teachers and professors to visit the exhibition The Times of Altamira. Each educational itinerary is a flexible package that educators can customise and tailor to the needs of their group.

Taller

En este taller exploramos el paisaje sonoro de los tiempos de Altamira, los sonidos de la Naturaleza en la que vivíamos inmersos y los sonidos y músicas que crearíamos para nuestra vida cotidiana y para las celebraciones especiales. Haremos sonar algunos de los objetos sonoros e instrumentos musicales conocidos del Paleolítico superior.

Storytellers

At the Museum of Altamira we've created a family storytelling corner for imagining what humans were like in the Palaeolithic, beyond what archaeology can tell us.The story A World without Roads invites us to think of ways to get our bearings in the vastness of nature as we move through the territory, while The All-Healing Plant reminds us of early man’s profound knowledge of plant resources.

Recorrido hasta la cueva de Altamira

La visita al Museo de Altamira tendrá un buen comienzo o un mejor final junto a la cueva de Altamira. El espacio frente a la entrada de la cueva es también un lugar histórico donde transcurriría buena parte de la vida de sus habitantes en los periodos más templados.En el camino desde el edificio principal del museo hasta la entrada de la cueva de Altamira recorremos un paisaje muy diferente al que transitaban las personas de la Prehistoria, aunque sí podemos conocer y observar en la actualidad algunas de las especies de arbustos y árboles de entonces.

The Cave of Altamira, Saved

At the Museum of Altamira we are working intensively to get to know the cave better and to conserve its cave paintings in the present and future.

In this game, you’ll learn about some of the preventive measures aimed to guaranteeing the conservation of this World Heritage site.
