This 19th century table emulates the dais' tables of the 16th century, smaller than dinning tables, and with one or two drawers as well as lathed legs. Not many examples of these tables exists nowadays.
The concept of harmonizing the furnishings with a specific rooms, spread from the Iberian Peninsula to the rest of Europe, and heavily influenced furniture design. Small tables like this one had an important role as part of this new concept.
