This vase from Talavera de la Reina is part of the chiaroscuro, blue, or chinese series of the 17th and 18th centuries. The decorations depict a bird amoung a landscape, and on the other side the crest of the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe.

The soft, tiered trees and the use of multi-toned blue are characteristic of this series, of which numerous monastic albarellos are part of, as well as vases, jugs, and plates with hunting scenes. The decoration reflect influences from central Europe, and, through them, from Chinese porcelains.
