Services for researchers and people studying for state exams

The Cerralbo Museum offers access to its museographic, bibliographic and documentary collections to researchers upon request. All requests to consult the collections must be made in writing and include a justification. Depending on the type of collection you wish to work with, the application should be sent to one of the following e-mail addresses:

Museum collections: colecciones.cerralbo@cultura.gob.es

Bibliographic holdings: biblioteca.mcerralbo@cultura.gob.es

Archival holdings: archivo.cerralbo@cultura.gob.es

Please use the subject line "Consulting the collections". Once the visit has been approved, the Museum will arrange a date with the researcher. The typology and intrinsic characteristics of each of the three collections (museographic, bibliographic and archival) establish particular conditions for the consultation process, making it possible to dovetail conservation needs with researchers' right of access. The applicant commits to complying with the terms and conditions, which will be set out in detail on a form provided for this purpose on the day of their visit.

In general, the person requesting access for consultation accepts the following conditions:

  • 1. The applicant shall formally cite the Cerralbo Museum's collections in their studies and publications. According to the nature of the collections consulted, the citation shall be as follows: Cerralbo Museum (MC), Library of the Cerralbo Museum (BMC) or Archive of the Cerralbo Museum (AMC). This shall be followed by the item’s respective inventory or registration number.
  • 2. The applicant shall deposit at the Museum at least one digital copy of the publication resulting from their research and, if available, one printed copy, which will become part of the Library's collection.

Special note for candidates for positions at the museum

We have prepared an updated list of bibliographic resources to help with the study for subjects related to the Cerralbo Museum in the civil servant examinations for museums.
