Direct sale offers of cultural assets

Sometimes the opportunity arises for the central government to acquire assets directly from individuals or non-public entities.

The individual may submit the sale offer:

• Directly to the General Department of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets (Ministry of Culture).
• Through a public institution interested in expanding its collections.

The offer must include the following information:

• Photograph of the asset.
• Price at which it is offered.
• Details on the offering party:
  • Name.
  • Surname(s).
  • Telephone.
  • Contact address.

These offers are brought to the attention of the Spanish Historical Heritage Assets Classification, Valuation and Export Board, which issues an opinion, indicating whether or not the asset is of interest for the public collections and whether or not the price is appropriate.
