Ramón Iglesia, archivist, librarian and historian, son of Julio Iglesia Martín , also an archivist. He studied at the Central University of Madrid and in 1931 joined the Body of Archivists, Librarians, and Archaeologists. He married the archivist Raquel Lesteiro , who was also an archivist.
His strong republican ideals led Ramón to fight at the front during the Civil War. He was a member of the Management Commission of the Corps of Archivists, Librarians, and Archaeologists , which he headed together with Tomás Navarro Tomás and Juan Vicéns de la Llave. He then went into exile in Mexico, where he worked as a translator and editor.
From 1940 onwards, he began to teach at various universities in the United States, where he died at the age of 42.
