Gestión de Riesgos para el Patrimonio Documental: Encuesta Europea

Bajo la coordinación de los Archivos Históricos de la Unión Europea (EUI) y con el respaldo de DEX, socio experto en la evaluación comparativa de instituciones culturales, se ha lanzado una encuesta dirigida a los Archivos Nacionales participantes y otras instituciones europeas clave.

El objetivo principal de esta iniciativa es reunir información valiosa sobre cómo integrar la gestión de riesgos del patrimonio documental en la preparación general de las sociedades para prevenir y gestionar amenazas, incluidas las provocadas por catástrofes naturales y el cambio climático. Este último es especialmente crucial para una planificación de riesgos a medio plazo. Además, se abordan riesgos derivados de acciones humanas, como incendios provocados o conflictos armados.

Importancia del Reconocimiento Temprano de Riesgos

La identificación temprana de los riesgos para el patrimonio documental es esencial para garantizar una respuesta rápida y efectiva. La encuesta busca fomentar acciones globales coordinadas que incrementen la capacidad de reacción ante situaciones de emergencia.

Presentación de Resultados

Los resultados de esta encuesta serán recopilados en un informe sobre gestión de riesgos y se presentarán en destacados eventos europeos, como la reunión del Grupo de Archiveros Europeos (EAG) y la 34ª Convención del International Centre for Archival Research (ICARUS), programada para 2025.

Esta iniciativa subraya la importancia de proteger el patrimonio documental como parte integral de la resiliencia y la sostenibilidad de nuestras sociedades.

Risk Management for Documentary Heritage: European Survey

Under the coordination of the Historical Archives of the European Union (EUI) and with the support of DEX, an expert partner in benchmarking cultural institutions, a survey has been launched targeting participating National Archives and other key European institutions.

The primary objective of this initiative is to gather valuable information on how to integrate risk management for documentary heritage into society’s overall preparedness to prevent and manage threats, including those caused by natural disasters and climate change. The latter is particularly critical for medium-term risk planning. Additionally, risks stemming from human actions, such as arson or armed conflicts, are also addressed.

The Importance of Early Risk Recognition

Early identification of risks to documentary heritage is essential for ensuring a swift and effective response. The survey aims to promote coordinated global actions to enhance emergency response capacity.

Presentation of Results

The survey findings will be compiled into a report on risk management and presented at prominent European events, including the meeting of the European Archives Group (EAG) and the 34th Convention of the International Centre for Archival Research (ICARUS), scheduled for 2025.

This initiative underscores the importance of protecting documentary heritage as an integral part of building resilience and sustainability in our societies.
