Image use licenses

Anyone can use images of public documents kept in the Archive of the Crown of Aragon. If the intended use of these images goes beyond mere research purposes, such as editions, exhibitions, filming, commercial publications or any other activity of a similar nature, it is necessary to request a specific use license for that diffusion to the Ministry of Culture, as holder of the documents kept in the Archive. When requesting any license to use images, two elements must be taken into account:

• The power to grant this type of licenses corresponds to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts, according to the regulations on the delegation of powers within the Ministry of Culture (currently Order CUD/990/2020, of 16 December October, on setting limits for the administration of certain credits for expenses and delegation of powers ).
• The possible costs derived from the use and transfer of images must abide by what is specified in section III.2.B of Order CUL/1077/2011, of April 25, by which the public prices of certain services provided by the central offices of the Ministry of Culture , although these may be adapted according to the considerations in favor of the Archive that are regulated in article 5.2 of said Order.

If it is not possible to submit the application electronically, please contact the archive and request the corresponding form so that you can submit the signed application on paper at the public registry offices of any Public Administration , at the Post Office, or in the diplomatic representations and consular offices of Spain abroad, in application of article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
