Jorge Semprun. The long journey

Jorge Semprún at the Buchenwald extermination camp in 2010 (RTVE)

The Ministry of Culture and Spanish Cultural Action present this exhibition as a culmination of the activities organized in commemoration of the centenary of Jorge Semprún (Madrid, 1923-Paris, 2011), Spanish writer, screenwriter and intellectual, as well as head of the Ministry of Culture.

The appointment is an invitation to deepen the knowledge of the trajectory, legacy, and the time and challenges he had to face. It also aims to reflect on the construction of the author's own memory, but also of collective memory, and to uphold the values that he defended as a person and as an author: solidarity, the defence of democracy and freedom against totalitarian impulses, denunciation of barbarism and the vindication of fraternity.

The exhibition was seen at the Archive of the Crown of Aragon between July 12 and November 3, 2024. It subsequently travels to the Documentary Centre of Historical Memory of Salamanca, until February 2025.
